2006 Touareg
- New standard engine: 3.6L VR6 with direct injection with 276 hp, a 36 hp increase over the previous VR6. (Delayed introduction)
- Rear view camera and auxiliary multimedia connector now comes with navigation system
- 115V outlet in cargo area replaces 12V outlet
- Roof rack now becomes an accessory
- Servotronic steering becomes standard on 3.6 VR6 and V8
- Chrome replaces wood trim on transmission shift lever
- "Tuft" carpeting replaces "Perlvelour"

2006 Phaeton
- W-12 engine now produces 444 hp
- Active Cruise Control (ACC) now optional on V8 and W-12
- Cell phone preparation for Nokia phones 6310/6340/6360 (not available w/ 4-seater package)
- Bluetooth cell phone preparation for 4 & 5 seater configurations (delayed introduction) deletes Nokia prep.
- Telematics deleted
