LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Volkswagen of America’s relationship with the driving enthusiast starts at any Volkswagen dealer and the catalog of Genuine Volkswagen Accessories. To show how these elements can result in stunning statements of individualized styling, Volkswagen let loose its accessories crew on two of its new turbocharged sports sedans for display at the 2005 SEMA Show.
The 2006 Jetta 2.0T and 2006 Passat 2.0T each were re-tailored with a Votex body kit consisting of front, side and rear skirts and a rear deck spoiler. The Jetta styling kit is a $2,999 option, and it also includes silver tail lamps and 17X7-inch Vision alloy wheels with 225/45R17 all-season tires. For this SEMA Show special, however, Genuine Volkswagen Accessories mounted a set of 18X8-inch Karthoum alloy wheels in a smoke finish and wrapped them with 225/40R18 Michelin performance rubber. A set of Sport Springs was installed to give the car a lower stance and center of gravity for enhanced handling, while a 2.5-inch polished stainless steel mid-pipe and muffler was fitted for greater durability and a sportier appearance and sound. Up top sits a sunroof air deflector for more enjoyable open sunroof motoring.
Style and utility are well blended in the Jetta’s interior accessories, which include Monster Mats, a Golf Ball Retro shift knob and an iPod® adapter. The Jetta’s voluminous trunk was made more user-friendly with a cargo net and a Gorilla Gear trunk liner and cargo organizing blocks.
The 2006 Passat 2.0T is outfitted in similar fashion. The Passat starts off with an elegant Votex body kit. It’s then complemented with a set of 18x8-inch Velos alloy wheels with 235/40R18 Michelin performance tires. Next, enhanced stance is achieved with the help of Eibach® Sport Springs. All these items as well as a port-installed option packages using some of these aero components and 17x7.5-inch wheels will be released in January 2006.
