Metro Detroit VW dealers to host “Rockin' the D” guitar contest
Winner to take home a one-year lease on a 2007 Wolfsburg edition Jetta
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – You may not see Slash or John Mayer shredding strings on a First Act guitar like those featured in recent V-dubs rock commercials, but you’ll see plenty of musicians in downtown Pontiac “Rockin’ the D,” a guitar solo contest sponsored by Metro Detroit Volkswagen dealers. The event will be held at iLounge located at 65 E. Huron Street in Pontiac on Saturday, December 9, 2006 from 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Press release continues...
Ten finalists have been chosen to compete on stage at Clutch Cargo’s exclusive iLounge for an evening of competition along with performances by two well-known local bands, Not for Sal and Paper Street Saints.
The contestants will have 10 minutes to set up, sound check and perform to a selection of pre-recorded tracks. Their performances will be rated by a panel of judges who will then select the final three rockers who will play one more song.
The grand prize winner of “Rockin the D” will receive a one-year lease on a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg edition model (MSRP $20,435). The new Jetta comes with a built-in auxiliary jack, to plug in a custom First Act guitar and play it through the car's stereo system, as seen on the commercials.
Second and third place winners will receive prize packages furnished by Guitar Center, 101.1 FM WRIF, Audio Cafe and Axis Music Academy. Volkswagen will provide a First Act guitar like those featured in recent commercials.
Yes, V-dub Rocks indeed! While waiting in line to get into “Rockin’ the D” check out the world’s fastest amp…and then watch the winner of the contest drive away in it!
Proud sponsors of “Rockin' the D” include Metro Detroit Volkswagen Dealers, The Detroit News, Axis Music Academy, Guitar Center, 101.1 FM-WRIF, iLounge, Audio Café, Small Plates restaurant and O2 Media Design.
