Volkswagen of America posts September sales numbers

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. —Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced September 2007 sales of 18,895 vehicles, representing a decrease of 5.9 percent over September 2006 unit sales of 20,082. On a year-to-date basis, Volkswagen brand vehicle sales are down 3.9 percent through September.

The entry level Volkswagen Rabbit sold 1,979 units, representing an increase of more than twenty percent over September 2006 sales. The Jetta also posted strong September 2007 results, without the incremental benefit of diesel engine availability, with sales of 7,715 units. In comparison, September 2006 sales were 7,382, which included 1,445 diesel vehicles.
