Mk. VI Golf delayed until late 2008

In an interview of Ulrich Hackenburg by Automobilwoche during the Shanghai Auto Show, he reveals that the next generation Mk. VI Golf will be delayed until late 2008. He cites the fact that the current Golf is still selling well enough that no pressure is put in releasing the Mk. VI early.
Hmmm, that line is a far cry from recent reports that say Volkswagen chief Martin Winterkorn did not like the design of the Mk. VI Golf that he had his top designer from Audi, Walter de'Silva take over and redo some key aspects of the design, thus delaying the next Golf by quite a few.
Whatever the reason, the Mk. VI is now expected for a late 2008 introduction.
